Shine at Nine is a stylish, modern hair, beauty & wellness experience located it the beautiful Cornish town of Bude. Our fully renovated premises consists of a large, open-plan hair salon on the ground floor and five individual treatment rooms upstairs. We're proud of the professional and personal service we provide to our clientele. SHINE aims to be Bude's premier one-stop-shop for you to keep your self looking and feeling fabulous.

HAIR STYLISTS
Kathleen Mills
Owner & Stylist
Kathleen qualified in 1999, she started her career as a hairdresser working on cruise ships, combining a career she loved and travelling the world. In 2001 Kathleen returned to Cornwall and continued her career locally, building her professional reputation. In 2003 she began working for herself, hiring a chair in a local salon. By
2007, only four years later, Kathleen took over the
running of the salon and created SHINE.
After 7 successful years of growth, Kathleen was able
to expand the busy salon and moved into the current premises. In 2017 SHINE made its move into the beauty and wellness industry. The space above the salon was fully renovated and converted into 5 modern, comfortable treatment rooms.
After a career spanning 20 years, Kathleen is a multi-skilled hairdresser and still very much enjoys her work. She now specialises in creative colouring and cutting
and prides herself on running a happy salon with a
great team.
"In my spare time I enjoy my fitness, running, yoga and travel! I am a huge animal lover and enjoy spending time with my boys chilli and taco."
Rose Honey
Creative Director
Rose has been part of the SHINE team since 2012. She was trained personally by Kathleen and qualified in 2013. Rose then went on to complete here Level 3 Hairdressing in 2014. She has continued her development at SHINE, growing into the confident and creative stylist she is today. Rose loves all aspects of hairdressing, but particularly enjoys colouring, especially Balayage and Ombre.
Rose very much enjoys continuing her development through courses, ensuring she is at the forefront of the latest cutting and colouring techniques.

Vickie Bourne
Creative Director
Vickie joined the team after moving from Surrey to Cornwall. She qualified in 2012 and has since expanded her skills with courses in London, including Great Lengths Hair Extensions. Vickie now has many years experience working with Great Lengths Hair Extensions and says it's her favourite aspect of hairdressing. She also enjoys
being creative with cutting and styling. Vickie loves using social media to keep up-to-date with all the new trends.
"I love being outside and spending time in the sea, body boarding. I am also Mummy to our salon doggie, Dora."
Liz Britton
Senior Stylist
Liz has been working in the hairdressing industry for 30 years. She joined the SHINE team in 2015, after deciding to give up her own salon. Working alongside Kathleen after training her 20 years ago, and still being good friends, seemed like the best place to work. Liz is a great stylist and still enjoys all aspects of hairdressing.
"In my spare time, I love to travel the UK in my camper van."
Claire Westlake
Senior Stylist
Claire has worked locally in the hairdressing industry since she qualified in 2013. She has grown to become a bubbly and professional stylist. Claire enjoys all areas of hairdressing, she particularly enjoys Bridal Hair, Balayage and Foilage.
"I really enjoy ice skating and socialising with friends."
Trinity Howlett
Trainee Stylist
Trinity is currently training, studying her Level 2 NVQ at Exeter College. Trinity is also trained at SHINE to help develop her skills towards becoming a stylist.
Trinity enjoys creating hair-ups and learning new skills.
"I enjoy taking part in charity running events and raising money for various charities."
Joey Deller
Saturday Assistant
Joey is our Saturday Assistant and will be studying his NVQ Level 2 Hair Dressing this September.
"I love being creative with make-up and hair, I'm always being asked by my sister to do her hair!"

Beauty Therapist
Lauren has been at SHINE since 2017. Lauren qualified in 2002 and has worked in top London hotels throughout her career. Lauren has many years of experience using a range of beauty treatments, but most enjoys facials and massage, she loves working with Aveda products to create a bespoke treatment for her clients.
Lauren is also a professional make-up artist, she has a wide range of Delilah products and specialises in bridal make-up.

Emma White
Spa Therapist
Emma has been practicing massage for the last 23 years. She has a wealth of experience in this field. Having begun her career at Champneys Health Resort, she went on to work in some of the most prestigious salons and spas in the country.
Emma specialises in Swedish, Traditional Thai, Deep Tissue & Pregnancy Massage, as well as Lava Shell treatments - which she also teaches.

Susan DeMuynck
Massage Therapist
Susan is an experienced massage therapist. She specialises in a wide range of treatment, including Abdominal Sacral Massage, Swedish Massage, Indian Head Massage, Hot Stones, Therapeutic Massage, Myofascial Release - as well being a Dementia Massage practitioner.

Felicity Guppy
Reflexologist & Massage Therapist
Felicity has a wide range of knowledge in reflexology and can treat a range of problems. Felicity is a kind and calm therapist who can instantly relax her clients.
Daniela Metter
Physiotherapist
Daniela qualified from Manchester University with a BSC hons in Physiotherapy in 1999. She has previously worked for the NHS, Team GB in Triathlon & Duathlon, and is now self-employed. Her long and broad career has equipped her with a wide range of physiotherapy knowledge and she now specialises in resolving musculoskeletal issues.

Eileen Rendle
Medium
Eileen is a gifted medium with a natural talent in communicating with spirit. She specialises in mediumship, readings, working on platform and healing (spiritual and reiki), alongside running regular development classes for like-minded people. A genuine, kind lady who loves her job.
